Project Title
Joy, Pleasure, And The Negotiation Of Identity In Sindhi Women's Experiences
Description
This thesis explores how maza shapes the lives of Sindhi women in Karachi. It builds on the concept of maza to contribute to decolonial and feminist frameworks, attempting to address an underexplored component: joy. The study begins to theorize a methodology rooted in maza, examining how South Asian women experience and navigate joy. By focusing on the everyday lives of Sindhi women, this research highlights how they find joy within their homes spaces often exempt from the outside world and transform them into sites of knowledge production. It also sheds light on seemingly insignificant aspects of their lives that are frequently overlooked. Through maza, the study uncovers forms of joy, pleasure, and fun in contexts where one might least expect to find them. Ultimately, it reveals the richness of joy in the Sindhi home, reimagining it as a space of resilience and meaning-making.
